Course unit notes - Independent Studies

essential notes about our course unit listings
Students on most taught programmes may do a certain part of their programme by independent study. Independent study can take a variety of forms such as: credit for ongoing work (especially creative work), challenge essays (writing essays to demonstrate previous knowledge or private reading/study), and projects.
The PhD in various fields can be completed mainly by independent study if the student already has done considerable research and is in a position to produce a dissertation or equivalent work within a reasonable time. The student must have adequate and relevant qualifications and experience and a previous acceptable university degree is necessary.
Calamus
International University doctorates now normally require at least 60
credits and therefore, in addition to the dissertation (where
required),
other credits must be presented. These can accrue from transfer
credits, CIU course units or agreed independent study.
Students with ABD ("all but dissertation") status who wish to transfer from other universities will be considered on their merits.
For further advice, please send your curriculum vitae or resume plus an outline of what you hope to achieve via independent study to info@unicalamus.org All details received will be treated in confidence.
